Nelson Bourrec Carter was born in Paris, from a French mother and an American father. His work focuses primarily on the global impact of American representation on the construction and perception of one’s self and surroundings. Working mostly between France and the US, his research stems from places which hybridity, history and architecture allows for new interpretations and layers of meaning.

After obtaining his MFA at the Paris-Cergy's Superior School of Arts in 2012, he directed his first short film, "Take Me to the Water" in 2014, with fundings from Région Aquitaine. In 2016 He completed his second film, "Overlanders", while his feature debut, "Glowsticks", is in development with Easy Tiger production.
